The
actual events taking place at the Festival vary each year but we always have a stage with musical entertainment, sometimes
dance and gymnastic displays. We always have a Dog Show; sporting activities; children's traditional fair; inflatable
slides and equipment; face painting; tombola, bric-a-brac, art, craft, clothes and holistic medicine stalls and lots more.
The Festival is opened jointly by the Mayor of Brentford and Mayor of Ealing.
For our first year in 2005, we organised sporting activities with English Cricket providing a safe 'net' area for people
of all ages to test their cricketing prowess. We were fortunate to be sponsored by Alan Coles in 2006 to host The Earl of Northampton's
Regiment of Foote (Sealed Knott Organisation) and the focus was on the history of the English Civil War and Battle of
Brentford. In 2007 our Festival was very much focused on Music, Water (with the participation of Brentford Boat Club),
as well as the unveiling of the restored Henry William Pickersgill painting of Colonel James Clitherow in Boston Manor House.
In 2008, the focus moved back once more to Sports with British Cycling joining the usual team of Football, Rugby, Tennis and
Multi Sports events. Boston Manor Tennis Club holds a tournament each year for their members. If you are not yet a member and would like to participate, you
can join the club for a very reasonable annual fee, details of which can be found
here .
We are in the early stages of organising the 2009 Festival and updates will be provided over the next few months on our
Festival 2009 page. Please keep visiting us to find out what exciting new things are in store for SUNDAY, 6th SEPTEMBER 2009.
